Teaching Sight Words – Teacher Tips – Virtual Learning – Virtual Preschool & Kindergarten

Teaching your child or student sight words?

Consider these tips:
1. Pick 1 word each day
2. Let your child see the word & say the word
3. Encourage your child to use the word throughout the day in sentences. Use it during play, in the car, on a walk, in the supermarket, Etc.

*Bonus – Revisit the word again at the end of the day. See it, say it and use it again. Repeat.

*Bonus 2: Practice, Practice, Practice

*You can absolutely pick more than one sight word per day or spread it out. Customize the activity to fit the needs of your child. There are so many ways to teach and practice sight words. This is just one activity to consider.

Our students @preschoolexplorers start learning sight words in our Lion Cubs program and continue in Kinder Explorers along with spelling words.

Registration opens October 19th for Semester 2 live programs. Follow us @preschoolexplorers!

About the Author: Irene Jones

I was a teacher in the Philadelphia Public School System for over 20 years. I love teaching preschoolers and watching them progress from wide eyed blank slates to being able to read and write. The pride they enjoy from advancing their abilities and seeing their imagination grow is the greatest reward a teacher can receive.
